Survey work and Moorings design
Seawork carried out the survey work, and designed moorings for a floating Pump Ashore station in Loch Creran, by Oban, Scotland. This system was designed and built for Scottish Sea Farms, in order to protect rare Serpulid Reefs, and to allow fish to be pumped ashore live from well boats, and culled ashore, in a dedicated harvesting, processing and packing station.
This major project required the moorings to be kept clear of the Sepulid reefs, and to be capable of supporting the mooring loads of large, deep draft well boats, in the severest storms and currents of the Loch. Perhaps most importantly, this project stopped the common practice of harvesting and killing the fish, at sea, a practice which however carefully carried out, carried the risk of infected blood or faeces contaminating other fish stocks in the area.
