Who we are
SEAWORK (Scotland) Ltd is now a very small company, with only 2 full time, and 3 part time employees. However, the company has a considerable history, having commenced trading as a Sole Tradership in 1978, before incorporation as a limited company in 1988.
The Managing Director, Robin Turner, is the founder of the company, and having attained 70 years of age, has reduced the company to a skeleton operation. Robin studied Mathematics at Edinburgh University, Computing studies and design principles at Falkirk and went on to get his part 1 Divers certificate, all of which combine to produce a unique set of skills ideal for the design and installation of mooring systems. Although originally trained in Mathematics, and Methods Engineering, he has more than 12,000 dives to his credit, over more than 40 years. With experience in all evolving diving technology, including closed circuit Heliox re-breathers, and past operation of a company ROV, Robin Turner has produced many articles, and given lectures on Diving Safety, and new technology. Principals of the H & SE Diving inspectorate have also in the past requested recommendations for Rebreathers, and copies of the extremely comprehensive in-house Dive Rules. HM Coastguards have used SEAWORK guidance notes on searching for Divers lost at sea, off the West coast of Scotland. After 30 years of this Robin is now an acknowledged expert and he is currently sustaining design consultancy, supervision of installations, risk surveys for Lloyds underwriters and lecture trips.
The other principal long standing employee of the company is a Marine Engineer, Andy Barlow, who has a unique experience of floating system installations, inshore and offshore, at home and abroad. He has also developed for the 'Cadology' arm of the company exceptional skills in using 3D software for the design of solutions to many problems.
The Consultancy arm of the business has graduated to the design of various types of smaller floating structure, in collaboration with Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers, A G Salmon & Co., of Appin, Argyll, Scotland, and with other specialist Research organisations, such as the Department of Offshore Engineering, at the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.
